Whether you’re a career starter looking for your first job or a specialist in your area looking for an exciting new adventure, we’ve got opportunities to suit every situation.

Retail roles

Our teams in store work hard every day to deliver great service, value and convenience to our communities. We've got a wide range of opportunities available all over the South Island - from part time work all the way up to store ownerships - including ways you can learn while you earn!

Support Centre roles

Our support centre teams work behind the scenes in our Papanui office so that our stores can focus on providing great service to our customers. Whether you're looking for a role in finance, marketing, property, IT, or retail operations, you can find an opportunity with us.

Supply Chain and Transport roles

Our supply Chain and Transport teams are the driving force behind our operations, travelling nearly 11 million kms to deliver more than 1.1 million pallets to our stores every year, so we can feed the South Island. Whether you're a career starter, an experienced supply chain professional, or somewhere in between, our wide supply chain network means we've got lots of different roles and opportunities available for you.

Our People & Culture
We’re passionate about making our co-operative a place where great people can grow meaningful careers and go home safe every day. We’re committed to providing our people opportunities for meaningful learning and for growing their capability, while fostering a culture that supports them to thrive, and belong.

Foodies Learning

We create successful communities by investing in our people, helping them gain knowledge, skills and qualifications, and equipping them for meaningful careers.

In 2022 we had 559 team members attend Leadership Development courses and 121 butchers and bakers in our apprenticeship programme.

Apprenticeships

We offer tailored Butchery and Bakery apprenticeship programmes that let you learn while you earn in our stores, as well as NZQA qualifications in Retail. If you want to earn an income while gaining new skills and qualifications, check out our careers site for roles in store.

Storeperson Development Programme

We launched this programme in late 2022 to give our people an opportunity to gain skills and explore different pathways to build a meaningful career in our Supply Chain team. The 18-month programme includes rotations to different areas in Supply Chain, including Inward Goods, Despatch and Inventory, with a module focused on building leadership capability. Each participant has a mentor that they meet with regularly to help them on their journey as they work through the programme.

'Simply the Best'

We offer learning opportunities for our team members to build skills and confidence that they can use both at work and in their personal lives. This 10-week programme is focused on financial literacy, health and safety, and effective presentations. As of 2023 we’ve empowered 145 team members through this programme, many of whom have progressed into leadership roles within our supply chain teams.

Graduate Programme

We’re excited to launch a grad programme in 2023 and support people in the early stages of their career to find exciting career opportunities in our co-op. Our 24-month programme offers 8-month placements within a stream to give graduates a broad exposure of the different pathways within their chosen specialty.
