Customer Service and Retail
Everyday our retail teams work to provide the best in customer service and products to our communities. Working in one of our stores provides the opportunity to grow your career from operations to management positions.
There are lots of different roles on offer, from being on the shop floor to working behind the scenes.

Our Bakery Teams are highly skilled passionate leaders in the Bakery retail industry in the South Island, producing everything from specialty breads to cakes and biscuits every day of the week.
We work with the latest industry specific equipment, provide a fun and fast environment and encourage our Bakery Teams to showcase their skills and talent through our daily instore offering.
We provide excellent job stability and career development opportunities through apprenticeships to Trade Baking (Craft) Level 4 and opportunities to go through the Foodstuffs South Island Learning and Development Programmes.
Our Butchery Teams are highly skilled passionate leaders in the Meat retail industry in the South Island, producing everything from award-winning sausages to delicious cuts for Kiwi dinner plates every day of the week.
We work with the latest industry specific machinery, provide a fun and fast environment and encourage our Butchery Teams to showcase their skills and talent through our daily instore offering.
We provide excellent job stability and career development opportunities through apprenticeships to Trade Butchery Level 4 and opportunities to go through the Foodstuffs South Island Learning and Development Programmes.
Supply and Distribution
Our Supply and distribution operation is the driving force behind feeding the South Island. We operate 24/6 to ensure the best services and products reach our supermarkets and customers.
We have world-class distribution centres based in Christchurch and Dunedin which utilise the latest in modern equipment.
We have a wide range of opportunities for school leavers to skilled and experienced people. You will have the opportunity to develop a skillset in multiple areas, for example operate machinery, work in despatch, inventory or customer services.
Transport - TSI
Foodstuffs South Island has its own private transport and logistics company operating 24/7 covering every corner of the South Island. Transport South Island (TSI) has a modern fleet of over 140 vehicles providing great customer service to our stores. Every week we travel 85,000km and deliver over one million pallets to every part of the South Island throughout the year.
We place significant emphasis on ensuring our investment in heavy fleet and driver training is world class and highly weighted towards the highest Health and Safety outcomes.
We also regularly engage in training initiatives and ongoing capability assessments. This includes training simulators and our own Driver Development Programme, providing on the job training that can take you from class one to class five.
The IT team at Foodstuffs South Island support a wide array of system and technologies, from all the tech you can see in our supermarkets, right through to the large and complex behind the scenes IT systems and infrastructure including EPR, CRM, Warehouse Management, Cloud, Business Intelligence and more.
As such, we have a diverse range of people with equally diverse skill sets, so this brings a lot of opportunity to grow your career in IT in directions you may not have realised were possible.
